This was a real find in Budapest.
Hotels can be very expensive but this is affiliated
with Hostelling International so you get the luxury of a room and privacy at
near hostelling prices. They like payment up front and the rooms are clean and
tidy. Management told me that I would have a second guest. But no one arrived,
i certainly would not object to another backpacker.
Situated in a
very classy area of Buda, a short walk from Castle Hill this is a lovely hotel.
Not far from Deli-pu so useful if you are coming from Warsaw and the Ukraine.
The rooms are clean and tidy and a jolly Magyar with a big bristling moustache
manned the reception. This was a great place to come back to after a day's
sightseeing in Budapest.
We were the
wrong side of Budapest for nightlife. The first evening was me in the Buda
hills enjoying steak with a stunning view of the glittering city. Further
nights were more welcome and I ventured off into Pest looking for some action.
Many of the bars were small but I did find “Action Bar”. I saw this in a porn
film a couple of years later and it had an extraordinary payment system for
drinks. Of course, this being Hungary, the currency is next to nothing.
I stayed a
couple of hours but headed back via the Metro. “Action Bar” means what it says
and I distinctly remember a young lad winking at me
Of course the
place is full of “rent boys” I am not sure it was my body he was after.
