Probably the most famous gay restaurant in London
Balans now has five branches with the most famous
down Old Compton Street but has also expanded in Kensington High Street and
also Westfield London and Stratford City.. One of the reasons for its fame is
that it is almost open around the clock from 8.00am to 6.00am. So if you can't
be bothered to hit the clubs after the pubs shut, come here, pull up a table
and order a beer.
The two cafes/restaurants are a hundred metres
apart. Balans has a seasonal menu as well as a monthly set menu made
with the best fresh ingredients available. Breakfast specialities include Cream
Cheese stuffed Pain Perdu, American pancakes as well as a traditional English
breakfast or succulent Omelette.
House specialities are steaks, seafood, the famous Balans burger
as well as truly tempting desserts. With a varied modern brasserie. Balans also
offers an extensive wine menu & a cocktail bar serving a wide range of delicious
drinks, including martinis, mojitos & frozen daiquiris
Of course like most Soho places it is
very pretentious with waiters who look like models and the interior is
decorated with marble statues and modernist art. It opens out onto Old Compton
Street where you can get a pavement table and watch the world go by.
Its also set up overseas. It moved to
Miami. It has five Miami restaurants including Lincoln road mall and Biscayne. It
looks to set up all over the US
